Sunday

Whew! Another whirlwind busy Sunday.  We started by going at 8 over to the YSA branch council meeting.  Another member was there, Tanner, waiting with us in the parking lot, sitting with us in our car, visiting.  Then one of us decided maybe we better check and see if we really have a meeting this morning.  Nope, on Fast Sundays no meeting!  We're slowly learning the ways and rules of our mission.  So we came back home, after having loaded our car with our "break-the-fast" food for lunch and then unloading it.  I had a crockpot full of spaghetti sauce and a large salad with dressings.

So at 10:00 we returned to our meeting.  We met new "kids" and hope they keep coming.  President Fullmer is such a missionary-minded soul.  He had three young men with him, who were non-members who worked for him.   In talking to them, they were all from Florida.  They likened this experience to..there is Florida weather, then next best is California weather and then the ultimate best is Hawaii!  They were really nice and I guess in Priesthood one of members asked them what they thought of church and Elder Sanft said that one of them actually had tears in his eyes as he answered how much love he felt here.  Nice! We also met a guy named Chris who goes by "cowboy Chris".  He has a ranch with cows and horses.  He bore his testimony about coming back and I think he'll be a great addition to our branch.  We need more males.

I told the sister's at Relief Society, as I put my phone number on the board, that as we have the Elders to dinner twice a month we'd like them to come too with a non-member friend to dinner with us.  I told them to call me to arrange a date.  We have so many girls dating non-members and they all got really excited about this.  I hope this pays off.  I told them that one of the reasons we feed the Elders is so that the member family can have an investigator to dinner at the same time and introduce them.  There is no more proselyting in the church these days door to door.  Only by referrals.

We had our break-the-fast with them then ran over to our Sunset Family Branch ward at 2:00.  We got there just as our counselor in the Presidency was giving his twins a name and blessing.  They are Hawaiian so you can guess how long the names were.  So special too.  Elder Sanft bore his testimony and asked for help in making this branch a ward.

We then came home,  I made up a big Mexican casserole for our donation to the break-the-fast at the PCC at 6:00.  It was a fun night.  We sat with all new people at our table and had good conversations.  One of the couples is the Settles,  whose daughter was in "The Greatest Showman"  the bearded lady, one of my favorite new movies this past year.  We are getting to know them, and find we have a lot in common.  Sister Settle worked with us at the VC last Friday, so we visited quite a bit then too. Another couple is starting up a "student success" program here at BYUH.  I,  of course, bragged about my daughter (in-law) Marni and her role at UVU with this.    They want contact with her.  Another couple were the Smarts, that we had met a couple a weeks ago at our YSA ward when they spoke.  They are teaching math at BYUH.    Then we came home at 8:30 and crashed.  Long day.

See how many people are here, there are about 100 who serve
at the PCC and then there are those at BYUH and the Visitor's Center
We're the odd couple.
