Sunday August 5

Today we started by going to the Sunset Beach YSA Branch at 10:00.  There was a great spirit in the meeting as the young members of this Branch bore testimonies.  One of our newest friends bore his as he is getting Baptized on Saturday.  He mentioned that he went into the President's work place and asked him if he was interested in buying machines, like generators etc. and as they talked the President felt inspired to ask him if he was a reader and would like to read the most true book on the earth today.  He said "what?" and President Fulmer said "it's the bomb (BOM)."  They went from there with the President taking him to the tabernacle in town and talking with him and having the full time Elders contact him.  His daughter was baptized then, 2 1/2 years ago but it took him to now to be ready.  He said he had never met happier people, nor felt the spirit like he does.  He had to over come drinking and smoking and other stuff but he is ready now.  He stood there in shorts, flipflops and a t-shirt and made an impression on all of us.

BTW I started talking to the Branch President's wife Rebecca and she said she went to Timpview, was Maile's age, then her husband walked in and heard us and said "wait! are you Adam's mom?"  He is David Fullmer from Timpview, one of our son's friends!  Small world.  I had sort of felt the name sounded familiar.

We had "break-the-fast" and I'll post some pictures.  They took a group shot but I haven't received a copy of it yet, so I'll add it later.  They snarfed up all the Cafe Rio pork I made, two big crock pots full! and it was a success.  Carter Hancock, our landlords son, was ordained an Elder so he can be ready to leave on his mission next month to the Philippines.

Boy in shorts is the one getting baptized

After eating we ran to our Sunset Family Branch and to our amazement there was Nicki with her children right on the bench handing out programs.  It was wonderful to see her, a surprise but  a nice one.

Then we went home for a quick respite and "Face-timed with Adam's family, and then back to the PCC for "break-the-fast" with the senior missionaries.  This was at 6:00 .  There are about 100 couples or maybe more, I'll have to find out, serving at the PCC and BYU including the Visitors Center  (they only have 2 couple currently).  I was a little amazed at the crowd and forgot to take a picture.  All the new people were to introduce themselves and low and behold another newbie was a woman I went to high school with.  She's a widow and will be in HR at the school.  Her name is now LeAnn something....Small  world, I knew two of the three other new people! (I knew Paul Tuitupo, he and his wife were the other ones) They went over in their meeting, so we didn't make it to the Young Adult fireside on Temples, that the Temple President from Kona was doing.  I would have liked to hear that, as we've been to that Temple.

Sister Cain met us as we arrived, she is the PCC director's wife, and gave us a "patriotic" lei, she said they had 8 big boxes of them left over from the 2012 elections and they featured Mitt Romney.  She said we could have all we wanted as they have thousands.  After it was over we took enough for all our grandchildren.  I'm tempted to text her and ask if she wants to donate a box to Curt Bramble for this new election in Utah with Romney!  Here's a picture of the lei...
